Trims & notes

• Buttons x2 + 1 spare (20L, 1.25 cm)
• Flat-knit tipped collar x1 (knitted to shape)
• Flat-knit tipped sleeve bands x2
• 1.2 cm twill neck tape (~22 cm)
• Light knit fusible, placket ply (~0.02 m2)
• Woven label (inside back neck)
• Care label (side seam, 10 cm above hem)
• Buy the collar and sleeve bands as knitted-to-shape trims at a stock gauge. Knitting them in a custom yarn colour is a 300-unit-per-colour yarn minimum and it will cost more than the rest of the garment.
• The tipping has to match across collar and both bands within the same dye lot. Order all three from one supplier in one order — a collar from one lot against bands from another is visibly two different whites.
• Keep the hem level front and back. A polo with a dropped back tail reads as a golf shirt; square and boxy at 70 cm is what makes this a streetwear piece.
• Collar point roll is set by the knit, not by pressing. Specify a 4.5 cm height from attachment seam to edge and ask for a collar that stands at the back without fusing — a fused pique collar in a boxy polo looks corporate and will not relax into the body.
• Bar-tack the placket bottom 1.8 cm wide. Two buttons means the opening is pulled wider to get it over the head than a four-button henley, and all of that load lands on one box.
• Sleeve bands at 18 cm flat against a 22 cm sleeve length are deliberate: the band is the detail. Longer than 24 cm and the sleeve becomes the garment's focus instead of the collar.
